Antique Hand Painted Needle Book
English * Circa 1820
This little needle book is a special one all handmade and stitched in the early 1800s. It is made of heavy card stock and both sides have been hand painted in watercolors by a very talented artist, I'm assuming the maker. One side has a castle ruin by the sea and the other a charming cottage with people in Regency dress outside. The edges are trimmed with silk and it has a silk bow and silk ribbon ties. The interior is lined front and back with yellow silk that has pockets stitched in to hold needle packets. Finely twilled wool pages are inside to hold loose needles. The silk pockets on one side hold four packets of needles by H. Milward & Sons.
The needle book measures 3 5/8" by 2 1/2" (not counting the ribbons) and is in excellent condition with no tears, loss or damage. The ribbon bow and ties are fraying and quite fragile though and I wouldn't tie it closed.
I stand behind everything that I offer and guarantee that it is exactly as presented.
Full Insurance is included in the low shipping price for all of my auctions. **
I accept payment through PayPal, eBay or a check.
